You Think Immanuel's Sunrise Service is Early?
Happy Easter!
Jesus was risen in Aluva at 6:30 this morning. The sun had barely shown its own sleepy face over the horizon when we gathered to sing praises to the risen Lord. It was early, yes, but it was beautiful.
The sermon this morning was, as usual, in Malayalam. But, for my benefit, Achen did repeat one crucial point in English: Although our calendars tell us that today is the day to celebrate Jesus' glorious resurrection, we must take it upon ourselves to remember and celebrate this event every day of our lives.
Because Jesus did not die and then rise again so that we could eat chocolate bunnies, go on Easter egg hunts, or get together with our families and friends for a really fabulous and filling meal. No, Jesus died and rose again so that we might be saved from our sins. And, since we sin every single day, we ought to be celebrating our salvation from them every single day.
I hope your holiday was beautiful and memorable, and I hope that tomorrow, when the holiday is over, you don't forget the reason we celebrated today.
Once again, happy Easter!
