From August 2005 to August 2006, I lived in India. This was a year full of challenges, humor, and growth, all documented here.

Sri Lanka

There is a law in India that visitors to the country can only visit for six months at a time. I'm not aware of the logic behind the law, but I am in favor of any legislation that requires me to take a vacation.

The six volunteers are off tomorrow morning for Sri Lanka. All we really have to do is leave the country, have our passports stamped to prove that we did, and come back in for our next six months on the Subcontinent. But we want to have a little more fun than that! So we are flying to Colombo, Sri Lanka's capital, for a week-long holiday.

I cannot say what we'll be doing for a week in Colombo; I have no expectations (mostly because I've realized that my American expectations are very rarely met here in India, so why would I hope they might be met now in another new culture?). I will admit, though, that I've got my swimming suit and sunscreen packed - just in case there's something along the lines of a beach. I won't expect, but I can hope, right?
